When do I need a model release

Post by Spanky » Wed Mar 20, 2019 5:18 pm

If I get pics from a free site like pixabay, do I have to worry about a model release? What about paid sites like AdobeStock?

I'm not a lawyer, but the standard wisdom is you need a model release when:
  • The model is recognizable and
  • The picture will be used for advertising

Pictures on the cover are ambiguous, so you should probably get a release.

Adobestock requires photographers to submit a model release before the image can be posted on their site. I dunno about pixabay and morguefile.
